Shallow Ocean

Shallow Ocean

The whitest cap meets the sky
And the white cap meets the blue field.
The living creature in disguise
Unless one sees the coral reef,
Halfway in the watery ball,
The gray spot is not a rock
Or cloud’s shadow it is a shark,
Where he used to dance and swim
To hunt his best tasting enemies.
His hatred was apparent
The species adapted to their way
His body becoming thick with fin,
Long ago to the present day.

A Cliff Dwelling by Robert Frost
